Jinsha in Hongkong—Ancient Shu Civilization Exhibition Opens in Hongkong Heritage Discovery Center

Sichuan and Hong Kong, separated by thousands of miles, find resonance in cultural relics of more than 3,000 years ago. On December 29, Ancient Shu Civilization Exhibition, supported by National Cultural Heritage Administration and Government of the Hongkong Special Administration Region Development Institute and jointly held by Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum and Antiques and Monuments Office opened in Hongkong Heritage Discovery Center.

Chinese Civilization: Unity in Diversity

The exhibition is divided into five sections: the first section is an introduction of the background of Ancient Shu Culture and the discovery and excavation of Sanxingdui; the second section is an introduction of the discovery of Jinsha Site and its functional zoning; the third section are cultural relics discovered in Jinsha Site; the fourth section are cultural relics of late Shu; the last section shows the fruitful achievements of Chinese great heritage sites protection by presenting the revitalization of cultural heritage in Jinsha Site Museum.

Deepen the Cooperation between Sichuan and Hongkong

As one of organizers of the exhibition, Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum has a long history of cooperation with cultural and exposition units in Hong Kong. In addition to the touring exhibitions, a series of friendly cooperation has been carried out in the fields of social education and volunteer services, etc. In March 2021, Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum also became one of the first Sichuan, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan youth exchange bases in Sichuan.

Three Exhibitions in Display: Ancient Shu Civilization Touring Exhibition Gets Wide Praise

Apart from this “Ancient Shu Civilization Exhibition”, “Bronze Civilization of the Yangtze River Basin Exhibition”, jointly planned by Jinsha Site Museum, displays in Xiamen and “Mysterious Ancient Shu: Sanxingdui” will also be presented on December 31 in Dongguan Museum.

It is reported that “Ancient Shu Civilization Exhibition” will last from December 30 to March 29, 2023 in Hongkong Heritage Discovery Center.
