Golden Memory: Special Exhibition of Gold Vessels Unearthed before the 14th Century in China

Exhibition Time: 2018-09-21

Hosted by: Jinsha Site Museum

Gold has been regarded as a symbol of wealth and power since ancient times. On the basis of absorbing the cultural elements from other countries, and through the innovation and development during various periods, China’s goldware has gradually integrated with the features of various ethnic groups and regions, and finally formed a unique gold culture.

In order to welcome the second China Archaeology Forum to be held in Chengdu in October 2018, Jinsha Site Museum will hold the exhibition of Golden Memory: A Special Exhibition of China’s Unearthed Gold Vessels Before the 14th Century, in collaboration with 40 archaeological and cultural institutions from 19 provinces and cities, which will present the history of China in bright gold. This exhibition will meet the audience on September 21, displaying more than 350 pieces (sets) of fine goldware unearthed from pre-Qin period to Yuan dynasty (2100 BC – 1368 AD). It will show the origin, development, innovation and prosperity of China’s gold artifacts, and highlight their exquisite manufacturing process.
