The exhibition titled “The Eternal City - Splendor of Ancient Rome” opened on January 26, 2016 at Jinsha Site Museum in Chengdu and featured 233 pieces (sets) of exhibits from 7 heavyweight museums, which include the world-renowned Roman Colosseum, Palatino Museum, Golden Palace, The Baths of Diocletian of the National Roman Museum, the Massimo Palace of the National Roman Museum, the National Archaeological Museum of Florence and the Archaeological Museum of Siena, under the administration of the Special Superintendence for the Archaeological Heritage of Rome, the Superintendence for the Archaeological Heritage of Tuscany, and the Superintendence for State Museums of Tuscany Region of Italy.
This exhibition is a large-scale special exhibition of overseas cultural relics jointly introduced by four well-known domestic museums including Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum, Tianjin Museum, Shandong Museum, and Yunnan Provincial Museum. The exhibition also includes a tour of the four museums with Jinsha as the first stop. Many pieces of cultural relics in this exhibition are displayed for the first time in China. The heaviest one is about 1500 kg, the highest one is nearly 2 meters, and the most precious one is estimated at more than 7 million yuan with the total insurance valuation reaching nearly 100 million yuan.
