From July 7 to October 7, 2015, the unique and innovative educational archaeology exhibition Ba, An Ancient Kingdom Lost for Thousands of Years will be officially making its entrance in Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum, uncovering the secret territory erased from the history records——the Kingdom of Ba—— to the citizens of Chengdu, especially youth on summer vacation.

The exhibition, co-organized by Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum, Shanxi Museum, and Shanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology, is a highlight of the series activities of “See You in Museums—Top Ten Archaeological Discoveries” on China Cultural Heritage Day. As one of the national top ten new archaeological discoveries of 2010, this exhibition is also the first official meeting of the archaeological results of Western Zhou cemetery at Dahekou, Shanxi with people in Sichuan.

A vassal state as it was, the Kingdom of Ba never left a trace on the historical record, and the territory and size of the kingdom were also nowhere to be found. Although the culture of West Zhou left its mark on the kingdom, the independent spiritual and material culture of its own remained unshaken with even highly detail-oriented sacrificial offerings, weddings, funerals, marriages, and eating customs.
