At the 6th International Festival of the Maya Culture (FICMaya) in Merida of Mexico from October 19th to November 5th, 2017, the “Light of the Ancient Shu Civilization”, a photo and multimedia exhibition of cultural relics unearthed at the Sanxingdui Site and the Jinsha Site co-held by the Jinsha Site Museum and the Association of Overseas Chinese in the Yucatan Peninsula, was put on display at the Instituto Universitario Del Sureste in Mérida, Mexico.

Themed “A Dialogue between the Ancient Shu and the Maya Civilizations”, the exhibition demonstrated the photos of cultural relics and historical sites with unique geographical and cultural characteristics of the ancient Shu civilization. To allow visitors to have a real sense of it, we used augmented reality, virtual reality, and other technologies to present 3D images of the cultural relics and the process of how the historical sites came into being.

As one of the most important festivals in the state of Yucatan, Mexico, FICMaya has been held for six consecutive years, with each edition having a different cultural theme. This year, the theme is Maya astronomy and protection of the earth. In addition to themed exhibitions, the festival also featured various public engagement events, such as concerts, grand parades, and seminars, which were very popular with both locals and international tourists.
