Announcement of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage on List of National Archaeological Site Parks of the First Batch and Projects Initiated

To the departments of cultural heritage (departments of culture) of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities,
To give a fresh impetus to large site protection and regulate the construction of archaeological site parks, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage has organized an evaluation on national archaeological site parks in line with the Management Methods on National Archaeological Site Parks (Trial) and Evaluation Rules of National Archaeological Site Parks. All applicants are initially evaluated, investigated and scored on site and discussed on experts’ meeting. According to the poll, 12 projects are approved as the first batch of national archaeological site parks, including the Yuanmingyuan Archaeological Site Park, and 23 projects are approved for initiation, of which, Jinyang Ancient City Archaeological Site Park is covered. Now the national archaeological site parks of the first batch and projects initiated are announced as follows (see attachments 1 and 2).
Your department is required to guide related unites to carry out construction of archaeological site parks, to improve management level and to practically enhance protection, studies, exhibition and utilization of sites according to related laws and regulations, including Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Cultural Relics and Management Methods on National Archaeological Site Parks (Trial). Meanwhile, more efforts shall be made for project initiation, project approval and project application according to procedures and application for the title-National Archaeological Site Park in order to fully leverage its promoting role of local economy and social development.
