On Apr. 5, 2009, Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited the Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum with the Thai Ambassador to China, Mr. Manathat. The Curator Wang Yi, Secretary Leng Ailing, and Deputy Curator Zhu Zhangyi and Ren Ge also accompanied them during the visit.
The visit was to pay attention to and concerned about the reconstruction of the earthquake-stricken areas, and it was also the fifth time that the Princess came to Sichuan. To introduce comprehensively the Jinsha culture to the Sino-Thai friendly messenger - Princess Sirindhorn, Curator Wang Yi served as the instructor, and accompanied the princess to visit the Memorial Sculpture—the logo of Chinese cultural relics, the Hall of Relics and the Exhibition Hall successively, and introduced the discovery, excavation and protection of the Jinsha site in detail.
During the visit, Princess Sirindhorn showed great interest in the sacrificial area of the Jinsha site, and listened attentively to the introduction of the ivory, gold ware and jade ware by Curator Wang Yi, making a careful record. In the Exhibition Hall, Princess Sirindhorn appreciated almost every piece of cultural relics, marveling at the processing craft of the gold ware, bronze ware and jade ware made by ancestors in the ancient Shu. She was amazed at the profound implication expressed by the “Sun Bird”, and showed her heartfelt admiration to the great efforts in the relic exhibition by the Museum and to the brilliant and developed ancient Shu civilization. Wang Yi said that in fact, many of the relics unearthed in Jinsha site have also been found in Southeast Asia, which was enough to prove that as early as 3000 years ago, the two places were inextricably linked.
After the visit, Princess Sirindhorn was pleased to write the inscription for the Jinsha Site Museum, and wrote " the essence of the ancient Shu civilization” to convey the real feelings of the visit.
