Elisabeth des Portes, ICOM Secretary-General, Visited the Jinsha Site Museum

On Nov. 19, 2007, ICOM Secretary-General Elisabeth des Portes visited the Jinsha Site Museum with his wife. Chengdu Museum and the Jinsha Site Museum warmly received them.
During the visit, Portes and his wife had a detailed understanding from their accompany of the initial discovery of the Jinsha Site and the building process of the museum, spoke highly of the design of the museum and the exhibition form and gave a high evaluation of the museum's exquisite relics. He said that the facilities of the Jinsha Site Museum and the use of high technology had rendered the museum into the ranks of first-class museums, and it was worthwhile for the government to invest heavily in the construction of this museum.
After the visit, Portes was satisfied in all aspects of the construction of the Jinsha Site Museum, and he hoped that the Jinsha Site Museum could actively apply to join the Special Xommittee of Archaeology Museum under the ICOM to become a member of it. When the 22nd Conference of the ICOM in 2010 will be held in Shanghai, China, the officials of the Council will be recommended to come here and the Jinsha Site Museum will be recommended to the world.
