Exhibition of Cultural Relics from Sanxingdui and Jinsha in California, USA

   Through 11-year efforts made by Ms. Shi Liu Xiuzhi, the board chairman of Bowers Museum, over 120 pieces of rare cultural relics from Sanxingdui and Jinsha finally arrived at California, USA for the exhibition “China’s Lost Civilization: the Mystery of Sanxingdui”. 

    Titled as the “9th Wonder of the World”, Sanxingdui, till now, is the greatest archaeological discovery in China. 11 years ago, Ms. Shi Liu Xiuzhi of the Bowers Museum, who managed to borrow some treasures of China like the Qin Shi Huang's Buried Sculpture Legion for exhibitions, started her preparation and efforts for a Sanxingdui exhibition in California. Now, her dream is realized. 

    As introduced by Chen Xiandan, the vice president of Sichuan Provincial Cultural Relics and Archeology Research Institute, and Zhu Zhangyi, the deputy curator of Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum, on the exhibition, 127 pieces of cultural relics were showed, including 70 from Sanxingdui, of which, 18 national level-1 cultural relics like the Gold - Masked Bronze Human Head, and 57 from Jinsha, such as 6 national level-1 cultural relics like the Stone Knee Sitting Figure. 

    It was the first exhibition of cultural relics from the two museums at California and also their first exhibition in the form of portfolio in North America.  

    Through the exhibition organized by the Bowers Museum in cooperation with Sichuan Cultural Relics Administration, those living at the other side of the sea had an experience of the mysterious Sanxingdui culture 3,500 years go: where were they from? Why they disappeared? 

    The exhibition would be on in Bowers Museum till Mar. 15, 2015 before its movement to Houston Museum of Natural Science.
