Today is the Birthday of the Jinsha Site Museum 8 Million People Visited in 8 Years

    Today is the 8th anniversary for the Jinsha Site Museum. This afternoon, the Jinsha Site Museum will invite the children who were born on the same day as the Museum to come to the museum to celebrate their birthday. In 2005, the "Sun Bird" became the logo of Chinese cultural heritage. On Apr. 16, 2007, the Jinsha Site Museum was officially opened. The reporter learned yesterday that the museum has received nearly 8 million tourists since its opening.

    In 2001, the discovery of the Jinsha site represented the splendor of the ancient Shu, making the history of Chengdu city forward more than 3,000 years, and greatly enriching the historical and cultural connotation of this city. The Jinsha site is China's first major archaeological discovery after the 21st century. Apr. 16, 2007, the Jinsha Site Museum opened. The basic display of the museum “Come into Jinsha” has won the fine award of the “Eighth (2007 - 2008) National Top Ten Museum Exhibitions” since the discovery of the Jinsha site, experts and scholars of Jinsha have published more than 150 academic papers in many well-known journals at home and abroad, published more than 40 academic works, and the scientific research projects undertook and finished by Jinsha, have won many national and provincial awards, such as “Annual National Cultural and Educational Archaeological Top Ten Books in 2005”, “Excellent Author Award” of the Science Press, and in 2009 “Academic Contribution Award” of Chinese Museums Association". 

    Since 2003, the cultural relics unearthed in Jinsha have flown to France, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong (China), Italy, and the United States, etc. for exchanges and exhibition. In 2014, the Jinsha cultural relics went to the United States Bowers Museum for display. In April 2015, these exquisite cultural relics were transported from the Bowers Museum to the Houston Natural Science Museum. 

    In 2014, Trip Advisor, the world’s largest and most popular travel commentary site, released the list of “Travelers’ Choice - Ranking of the World's Most Popular Museum”. The Jinsha Site Museum was among the TOP10 of the most popular Chinese museums. In addition, the Jinsha Sun Festival welcomes visitors during the the Spring Festival each year  as scheduled, and it has been held six times.
