Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum Holding the Sun Festival

    During the Spring Festival, the 2015 Chengdu Jinsha Sun Festival will be held in the Jinsha Site Museum. It will be sponsored by Chengdu Culture, Radio and Television News Publishing House, People's Government of Jinniu District and People's Government of Qingyang District, and undertook by Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum, the Cultural Tourism and Sports Bureau of Jinniu District and the Culture, Sports, Radio and Television Bureau of Qingyang District.

    The festival will be on the theme of “the Silk Road”, using brilliant lanterns group, colorful performing arts, wonderful exhibitions and beautiful flowers to present cultural relics and retell stories passed from generation to generation.

    According to the reports, the lanterns groups are designed with “the Silk Road” as the core theme, presenting the audience with the silk culture through more than 30 sets of large-scale exquisite lanterns and tens of thousands of strings of LED lights, and striving to make this year’s Sun Festival a one with the most profound cultural connotation. These lantern groups represent the South Silk Road, the North Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road respectively, creating elaborately the large-scale groups, such as “Flowers Embracing Jinguan City”, “Wisdom on the Silk Road”, “Charms of the Ancient Yunnan”, “Re-take the South Silk Road”, “Desert Travel” and “Sailing Treasure Ship”.  

    Many of the lantern groups are created by the inspiration from the unearthed cultural relics. Inspired by the jacquard loom unearthed from the Wooden Coffin Tomb of the Western Han Dynasty in Laoguan Mountain, the designer specially designs the large-scale lantern group “Brilliant Shu Brocade” which reproduces the prosperity and great value of the ancient Silk Road culture. Besides this colorful loom, the lantern groups will also present a number of typically exquisite cultural relics on the Silk Road, such as gilt silver pots, blue and white porcelain and the three-color glaze pottery camel figurines, etc.
