Korea Dancing on the Jinsha Sun Festival “Dae Jang Geum” Show You How to Make Kimchi

    The annual Jinsha Sun Festival is to be held now. To make it more attractive, a Seoul Garden is designed to introduce the culture of Korea for international exchange, where not only traditional Korean lanterns are exhibited as a representative of Korean fashion, but also some top performance groups with world touring experience are invited to present fan dance and hip-hop. Materials for kimchi and New Year cake will be flown to the site. Everyone will be the “Dae Jang Geum” on the Jinsha Sun Festival. 

Korean-style Dance

    Korean dance is different from the one of traditional China that it shows more about “poetics”. It is learned that the Chao Nam-kyu?Song Chung-kyin Dance Squad, established in 1991 as one of the oldest one in Korea, will prepare us a traditional Korean dance which is adapted to cope with the public demands and has won favorable comments from domestic and foreign audiences. The fan dance we often see on TV will also be presented on this festival. 

    Speaking of dance, how should we miss the Korean hip-hop which once entered the market of Asia? The name “Gambler Crew” maybe is strange to every one of you, but it is famous amongst hip-hop fans. The Gambler Crew was established in 2002 with focus on Break-Dance. At present, each of its members has topped the world with their specialty and set a new standard for hip-hop. This time, the team is also invited to the festival. 

Make Kimchi and New Year Cake with Dae Jang Geum

    Food is always the pride of every Korean. On the Sun Festival, in addition to an exhibition for sales of Korean Food, some experts are also invited to teach you how to make the most authentic kimchi and New Year cake. What a pleasure with Korean food and colorful lanterns. 

    According to the director Jae-ho Park of the Seoul Lantern Festival, kimchi represents the cooking culture of Korea. Whenever the long winter comes, the whole country is in extreme coldness that no fresh vegetable is offered, so the Korean learns to pickle vegetables with salt for the winter. “To a Korean, kimchi is not only a dish, but also a kind of power and culture.” Every Korean knows how to make it. “With all vegetables cleaned and dried in the basket, the next step is to clean the container and rinse it with a little liquor of high alcoholic strength. On the third day, some clean water is added to an oilless pan for cooking spices. Then a half bottle of rod chilli and Kaoliang spirit are added to soak the dried vegetables. When the time comes, you can open the container and enjoy the delicacy.”

 

    New Year Cake is made of cooked polished glutinous rice which is thumped. It may be cut into curbs for eating with bean flour, sugar or honey. It tastes quiet tough and chewy. Besides, the Sun Festival is greatly supported by the government of Seoul, Korea that they will provide several sets of Hanbok for local citizens to experience!
