    Feb. 14, 2014 ushered in the Lantern Festival on which day the whole family reunited for a dinner of sweet dumplings. This year, the Jinsha Sun Festival not only prepared you the delicacy, but also games. In the ancient time, on this day, girls would go out for the lantern festival and the moon with the one they loved. It was a good time for dating. Now, on the romantic day, the Jinsha Sun Festival invited all citizens to enjoy the talk shows and short acts by local stars including Wang Lei, the “3 Wonders of Jincheng” and Dabao, the rocking songs by Gou Wei. More excitingly, lottery draw will be arranged at the Korea Garden and Dream Garden.

Appreciating Lanterns in Pair

Lantern festival is a must amongst the people. On the Jinsha Sun Festival, the Road of Holy Fire, the Sacrifice to the Water Spirit...Lanterns presented on the Jinsha Sun Festival combined modern animation and games with typical patterns and symbols of ancient Shu culture. It is learned that over 70 lantern groups were set up, including more than 20 of large size and 5 of supersize. Almost 20,000 strings of LED lamps were consumed to produce the atmosphere, a record in the history of the festival. You may stroll in them with your family or the one you love to have a feeling of the atmosphere.  

The “Jinsha Flower Market” was a revival of the tradition in ancient times. Flower shops were built in the dwelling style of Western Sichuan, decorated with flowers and formed a street extending back to the past. The flowery stage was shaped in circle with three giant tulips as the background. It was also a breakthrough that fresh flowers were used in winter. All good things come in pair and the flowers represent our wishes for a promising year. 

    Rice in Five Colors for the One You Love  

    On Feb. 14, Miao Sister Festival will be held in the Guizhou Garden, on which, all sisters will dress in Miao costumes and be grouped for song competition, liquor drinking to enter the door, Miao dance, “Who is Your Bride”, Color Rice to the One You Love . Also the aged will extend their best wishes to the couples and witness such a beautiful moment. The most meaningful part shall be the Color Rice to the One You Love. The rice is prepared by the Miao sisters for the one they love. Different colors symbolize different meaning. Green indicates the beautiful hometown as clear as the river; red indicates the village prosperity; yellow indicates the great harvest and white indicates the pure love. A pair of chopsticks would be given away with the rice to indicate coupling. If a male finds corn in the rice, he shall return with embroidery money for thanksgiving or if it is a tree branch, you are not destined. Pepper means rejection and if there is nothing in it, the girl is not into you.
