China’s Lost Civilization: the Mystery of Sanxingdui Closed in Houston

On Sep. 7, 2015, China’s Lost Civilization: the Mystery of Sanxingdui, a five-month exhibition (since Apr. 10) sponsored by the Department of Culture of Sichuan Province and organized by the Sanxingdui Museum and Jinsha Site Museum, was finally closed in Houston Museum of Natural Science.
On the exhibition, 127 pieces of cultural relics from the Sanxingdui Museum and the Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum were displayed and introduced to the visitors as messengers of the unique Bronze civilization in China. The exhibition was greatly welcomed by the local. During the exhibition, Liu Yandon, the vice-premier of the State Council, was visiting Huston. She paid a special visit the exhibition.
As a guarantee to a successful ending, experts were sent to the Museum for move-out, inventory and delivery, and packaging from Sep. 5 to 14 as instructed by the Department of Culture of Sichuan Province. The group responsible for the move-out firstly checked the exhibition site, and agreed with the Museum on the working procedures. All exhibits were moved out with assistance from workers of the Collections Department and Exhibition Group of the Museum, and then counted and packaged in the warehouse.
During the move-out, both sides also carried out exchange on planning, exhibition arrangement and move-out and publicity. The group responsible for the move-out visited the Museum for better mutual understanding.
