In 2001, the incredible discovery of Jinsha site, center of the ancient Shu kingdom, shocked the world. In August 2005, the Sun and Immortal Birds Gold Foil unearthed at this location was selected as the main image on the logo of Chinese cultural heritage. In a bid to revive the mysterious and magnificent culture of ancient times, three groups from the city cultural, broadcasting & TV, and newspaper industry had invested 30 million yuan in the creation of the musical, while working together with prominent musicians like Sao Bao. It is the first large-scale one made originally in China.
Jinsha revives the relics, and transformed them into beautiful scenes on stage. With 3D animation and high definition audiovisual technologies, Jinsha told a tragic love story between the ancient Shu princess gold and the archaeologist sand across a time of 3000 years.
II Development and travel history
On April.8th, 2005, Jinsha had its grand premiere in Beijing Poly Theatre.
On May.22nd, 2005, Jinsha had its first formal show in Chengdu Jinsha International Theatre.
On Sep.19th, 2005, Jinsha had its celebration of the one-hundredth performance.
On Nov.29th, 2006, Jinsha first went abroad to Singapore.
On Jan.24th, 2007, Jinsha officially launched round tours in Guangdong, Hong kong and Macow for 11 shows.
On Aug.12th, 2007, Jinsha had achieved 700 shows.
On Nov.12th, 2009, Jinsha performed in Jinsha Theatre in Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum. It became the worlds first musical to play in an archaeological site.
On Feb, 22nd, 2012, the newest release of Broadway-style Jinsha started formal performance (now ended).
III Back at Home
The museum decorated the Jinsha Theater for the music drama – Jinsha. By perfectly blending the scenery of the ancient Shu with modern performances, it allows the audience to experience the rocky cliffs, greenery, starlight, the flowery city of Chengdu, and the ice and snow landscape as if they traveled back in time to the ancient Shu some 3,000 years ago.
