2011 Jinsha Sun Festival

The third "Chengdu Jinsha Sun Festival" will kick off on January 29 in Jinsha Site Museum and continue through until February 20.

In addition to traditional activities such as food court, fireworks show, and folk craft performance, a lantern fair featuring Qinhuai festoons will be hosted for visitors to admire the beautiful folk-art famous for its superb craftsmanship. In the meantime, the family-themed event Sunflower • Family Talent Show will make a debut, allowing competitors of the lively and facinating game a chance to win the tickets to Hong Kong Disneyland. Other interactions include "My Dialogue with the Immortal Birds", " Photo Contest", "Shu Banquet Food Contest", and "Spicy King Contest".

Visitors need to pay a discounted price of 20 yuan for entering the venue. On the morning of February 3rd (the first day of the lunar new year), the museum will hold the first praying ceremony in the background of the Ancient Shu sacrifice-themed-architecture lanterns. On that day, citizens will experience how the ancients extended their best wishes for a coming new year of peace and abundance.

In Nov. 2010, Jinsha Site Museum entered the first batch of National Archaeological Sites parks designated by the National Cultural Heritage Administration. During the third Sun Festival alive with regional and creative highlights, Jinsha will further impress visitors as the name card of Chengdu; and amaze them with the profound culture of Ancient Shu amid the auspicious Spring Festival.
