2013 Jinsha Sun Festival

2013 Jinsha Sun Festival is gorgeously coming to us as a cultural brand of Chengdu!

At the beginning of 2013, the shocking presence of a mythical creature became the biggest surprise of Chengdu’s New Year. This stone rhinoceros, produced by Li Bing during the Warring States Period, has guarded the happiness and well-being of the Chengdu Plain for more than 2,000 years. With its magical power of suppressing flood and cute appearance, it is known as the "treasure of Chengdu". Since it was unveiled at Jinsha Site Museum on February 6th, there have been endless visitors waiting in a long queue to touch this creature and pray for blessings.

89 Colorful lights give out gorgeous and fantastic sparkles under the deep blue sky in the night. It leads people to appreciate the culture of the ancient Shu period through time and space, enabling the enjoyment of sun culture and creativity, fashion and aesthetic feeling combined perfectly.

Jinsha Deer Park restores the ecological atmosphere in which people and animals live together in harmony, just like in the ancient Shu state. In the venue, visitors can buy forage at designated sales points and feed sika deer at close range. It allows tourists to experience the idyllic view and wildness in the hustle and bustle of the city.

In the 2013 cultural event, Avatar reappeared in the Magic Restaurant. When entering this magical world, you would first see a lighting cluster of "Mystical Tree Garden" with a height of 18 meters and a width of 35 meters. This lighting cluster took the giant banyan tree unearthed in the sacrifice area of Jinsha Site as the prototype. It reproduced the tree of life reaching the sky by combining traditional colored lamps with modern stage art, rock, and magic acrobatics. As a simulation of the scenes in the movie Avatar, it presented the Shu ancestors’ worship of trees to tourists in a most striking way.

Under the huge god tree wrapped in silver, the secret knight dressed in black robes was preparing all kinds of magical drinks in the floating island bar. And such drinks, faintly glimmering under the lights, were poured in containers in the shape of human bones and skeletons. Waiters were disguised as blood elves, bringing out exotic food from the treehouse for guests to enjoy. These spider cakes, goblin puffs, beetle muffins and so on could only be seen from movies and games before. And tourists would enjoy delicious food while sitting on a hundred-meter-long glowing table and watching a sitcom adapted from Magic World.

The 2013 Chengdu Jinsha Sun Festival took place from February 7th to February 28th. According to statistics, it received 800,000 tourists during the Festival, up 34% year on year.
