2016 Jinsha Sun Festival

At this year’s Jinsha Sun Festival, you can enjoy the beauty and elegance of the Qin-Han era dance, the courage, and wit of the Roman warriors, the romanticism and fragrance of European flowers, as well as the grandeur of the mass ritual. The event will be held from February 6th to 22nd, 2016, at Jinsha Site Museum under the themes of the ancient Roman civilization and the Chengdu civilization during the Qin-Han era. The Festival features large lighting sets, an attractive flower fair, and excellent performances, all of which show the harmonious interaction between both themes.

The Eternal City-Splendor of Ancient Rome, one of the many highlights in the event, has been well received by Chengdu citizens. Jointly organized by Jinsha Site Museum and four other large Chinese museums, the large-scale foreign cultural relics exhibition boasts unprecedented quality and cope in Sichuan. The ancient Roman cultural relics from 7 Italian museums reproduced the life scenes of ancient Rome over a timespan of nearly 500 years. The lively sculptures depict the atmosphere of valor surrounding the Colosseo, the battle of wit and courage at the Imperial Fora, as well as the devotion and reverence across the Pantheon...

Lantern shows are a must across the stretch of the Spring Festival, and the one in this Sun Festival venue has also become the event’s spotlight. Over 40 lighting sets and tens of thousands of LED light strings light up the entire place. The three themes presented in the event: “Chengdu during the Qin-Han era”, “the glory of ancient Rome”, and “the Spring Festival folk tradition”, showcase the historical significance of ancient Chengdu and ancient Rome.
