During the Sun Festival of Jinsha 2017, visitors will not only see the real view of the Egypt Queen, Cleopatra VII in the exhibition hall for cultural relics of Ancient Egypt: World of Pharaohs and Gods, but also meet her, the stunner on the main stage. This day, the reporter just appreciated the beauty of the Queen in the Make-up Room of the main stage of the Sun Festival.
Covered by the lights, the Egypt Queen dressing golden coat walks slowly and elegantly onto the stage and the whole field is glittering and brilliant. The ancient Egyptians worship the sun while the gold is the color of the sun; therefore, they believe that the color of gold is just the skin color of god. The whole performance is like an ode to the sun god.
Besides the shining robe, the topping snakelike feather crown of the Egypt Queen is also recovered according to the original status of fresco unearthed in ancient Egypt. The topping crown symbolizes the right of pharaohs. On the crown, there is a poisonous snake raising its head and bending the neck. Snake is a very important part in gods worshiping in ancient Egypt, with a high ratio of appearance in the legends of the ancient Egypt, even in close relationship with both the royal court and people.
What’s more, the enchanting and glamorous eyes makeup of the Egypt Queen highlights the entire markup, recovered in accordance with the makeup of Cleopatra VII in the film The Egypt Queen shot in 1963. The ancient Egyptians prefer to use eye ointment to daub the eyebrows, eye sockets and lower eyelids. Exhibits displayed in the exhibition include basalt eye shadow powder pot and the wooden eye liner brush of the New King Period, i.e., over 3,000 years ago. The Special Ancient Egypt Exhibition launched in the Temporary Exhibition Hall of Jinsha, more knowledge related to makeup of the ancient Egyptians will be learned.
Most of the programs in the current Sun Festival are original. A series of performances invested with foreign customs like “The Gorgeous Crown in Egypt”, “The Jazz Night” and “The Mysterious Nile” have been originally choreographed by Jinsha Directing Team in cooperation with foreign actors. The performance of Jinsha style of ancient Shu also integrates some innovations. Ancestors of the ancient Shu and the ancient Egyptians all worship the sun; therefore the directing team draw inspiration from Jinsha culture and the music opera Jinsha, and at the same time integrate the similar elements between the ancient Shu culture and ancient Egyptian culture, finally choreograph programs like “The Immortal Bird Honoring in the World” and “Sunny Journey” reflecting the sun worshiping.
