Golden Light Shines Miles Away: The Largest Exhibition of Southwest Bronzes Debuts at Jinsha

This Saturday (on May 27), “Golden Light Shines Miles Away—Bronze Civilization Exhibition in Southwest China” will be on debut in Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum. The exhibition brings together 294 pieces /sets of cultural relics represented by bronzes from the Pre-Qin to Qin Han periods. The exhibits are from 32 cultural and exposition units in Southwest China, making the exhibition the largest of bronze civilization in Southwest China with the largest scale and number of exhibits and the highest grade of cultural relics at present.
Cultural Relics from Miles Away
It is reported that all exhibits are from more than 30 cultural and exposition units. Since May 9, experts from Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum have been to 23 cities in six directions.
At every site, experts from Jinsha Site Museum have to check thoroughly with relevant departments if there are cracks, stains or scratches. Transport only after both sides’ confirmation. In addition, transportation personnel also have to cut appropriate grooves in the soft sponge according to the size and shape of each cultural relic to ensure the cultural relics’ safe arrival in Chengdu.
New Archaeological Discoveries in Debuts
Laolongtou Site, discovered in Yanyuan county, is honored as a third “Bronze Kingdom” after the discovery of Sanxingdui Site and Jinsha Site. This is its first public debut of the Bronze Carriage discovered in 2020. Apart from this, a new round discovery of Sanxingdui Site and sealing clay in Hebosuo Site will be on display for the first time.
For the First Time: Collect All Three “Chengdu” Inscription Weapons
It is worth mentioning that the only three bronzes carved with inscription “Chengdu” will be on display for the first time. They are the spear with “Chengdu” inscription, which was the only one discovered in Chengdu, the tiger head bronze spear with “Chengdu” inscription founded in Yaan, and Qingchuan dagger-axe with “The 9th year, Lv Buwei” inscription.
Over 294 pieces/sets exhibits from nearly 100 sites are on display, including more than 103 pieces/sets of the first grade cultural relics and 88 pieces/sets of the first public exhibits. This largest scale of bronze exhibition opens on this Saturday in Jinsha, waiting for your coming!
