Jinsha Site Museum Reopens: Special Summer Exhibition Debuts Tomorrow

It is reported that the Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum will reopen on August 6. The special summer science popularization exhibition “The Magic World of Seashells” will also on display. It presents more than 1,200 pieces/sets of precious shellfish specimens and related cultural relics from five culture and exposition units including China (Hainan) Museum of the South China Sea, Sichuan Museum, Sichuan Provincial Cultural Relics and Archaeology Research Institute and Sichuan Guanghan Sanxingdui Museum.

The Assembly of Seashells: Things Not to Miss

As the first seashell culture exhibition, it breaks the record of the Jinsha Site Museum with the largest number of exhibits and various types. There are nearly 1,000 pieces/sets of shellfish, fish, coral, etc. and more than 200 pieces/sets of related cultural relics. Visitors can also enjoy the ancient shellfish coins and delicate shellfish carvings.

Fancy Marine World: Destination for Accompanying Children in Summer

In order to better meet the needs of the majority of the young and parent-child families, the exhibition is also designed to be more interactive and interesting. Visitors can create their own exhibition notes by answering questions and collecting stamps. The audience can not only get close to the conch to listen to the sound of the sea, but also touch some of the shells.

During the exhibition, Jinsha Site Museum will launch a series of social and educational activities in conjunction with the featured handicrafts and archaeology, while distributing 30 DIY handmade material kits in the exhibition hall every day, so that the visitors can feel the interest in shellfish culture while enjoying the marine world. Besides, the museum has also “moved” the exhibition online through a VR panoramic exhibition hall and topic page.
