Jinsha Site Museum Announces Its MajorSix Exhibition Plansfor 2022

From the exhibition on the theme of world civilizations, to the essence of jades in traditional Chinese culture; from the various forms of artistic Jinsha, to the approachable Year of the Tiger Zodiac Exhibition...Today, Jinsha Site Museum announced itssix major exhibition plans for the entire year of 2022.
Exhibition 1: The 31st Summer Universiade X Jinsha Site Museum: The 20th Anniversary of the Discovery of Jinsha Site·2021 Xu Liaoyuan Art Exhibition
Exhibition Period: December 15, 2021 - January 15, 2022 (Tentative)
In 2001, the Jinsha Site emerged astonishingly in Chengdu. This Ancient Shu civilization site from the Shang and Zhou Dynasties not only solved the mystery of Sanxingdui's whereabouts , but also traced the historical roots of Chengdu. The unearthedSun and Immortal Birds Gold Ornament and other cultural relics from the site have become a source of inspiration for modern design, such as the torch for the 31st Summer Universiade. With the support of the Executive Committee of the Universiade, this exhibition will showcase the Universiade Torch and other art works created by Mr. Xu Liaoyuan, the torch designer, based on thetheme of ancient Shu civilization.
Exhibition2: A Kaleidoscope of Civilization-Antiquities from Ancient Syria
Exhibition Period: December 30, 2021 – May 8, 2022
The exhibition features 183 selected artifacts from nine museums, including National Museum of Damascus in Syria and domestic institutes including Dunhuang Academy, systematically showcasingthe splendid history and culture of Syriafrom the prehistoric era to the Islamic period.
Exhibition 3: Tiger Brings Good Luck – Pictures of Chinese Zodiac for the Year of Tiger
Exhibition Period: January 30, 2022 - February 15, 2022 (Tentative)
Asthe Year of the Tiger approaches in 2022,Jinsha plans to select various cultural relics related to tiger culture from different periods and regions . Combined with traditional Chinese lantern displays, this exhibition aims to present the inseparable connection between tigers and Chinese culture.
Exhibition4: Jinsha in My Eyes – Photography Exhibition of Ancient Shu Culture
Exhibition Period: May to October 2022
What does Jinsha look like in your eyes? The exhibition will collect and showcase photography works that depict the theme of ancient Shu Jinsha culture, inviting submissions from various sectors of society.
Exhibition5: Jade in Jinsha – Exhibition of Jade from the Dynasty of Western Zhou and Eastern Zhou (tentative title)
Exhibition Period: June to October 2022
The exhibition is a continuation of the “Jade in Jinsha – Exhibition of Jade from the Dynasty of Xia and Shang” at the Jinsha Site Museum. It is planned to gather exquisite jade artifacts unearthed from important archaeological discoveries across China during the Western and Eastern Zhou Periods, presenting the development and changes of jade culture then from a multidisciplinary cultural perspective.
Exhibition 6: Collection as Treasure-Highlights from the Gilberts’ Collection of the V&A, UK (tentative title)
Exhibition Period: Mid-December 2022to Mid-March 2023
The exhibition will showcase a large number of medieval gold and silverware, oil paintings and other artworks from the collection of Victoria and Albert Museum, focusing on European craftsmanshipfrom the 15th to 20th century under the background of art globalization. It will display treasures of many kings, including Napoleon I and Queen Victoria, reflecting the achievements and styles of European royal artistic life in modern times
