“Kaleidoscope of Civilization: Exhibition of Ancient Syrian Artifacts” Opens Today

This morning, the “Kaleidoscope of Civilization: Exhibition of Ancient Syrian Artifacts officially opened to the public at Jinsha Site Museum. The exhibition carefully selected 183 pieces/sets of artifacts, following the flow of historical time. It tells  the story of Syria's development from the Stone Age, through the Bronze and Iron Ages, and into the Hellenistic, Roman and Islamic eras.

183 Artifacts Capture Millennium in an Instant

As vivid witnesses to Syria's multiculturalism, the 183 pieces/sets of exhibits in display, range from everyday items to ceremonial utensils, from sculptures to Greek silver coins. Visitors can admire intricate inlaid shell artworks crafted by artisans 4,600 years ago and even explore ancient liver divination techniques.

Rebuilding the Assyrian Palace and Recreating the Babylonian Palace

Upon entering the exhibition hall, visitors are greeted by the "Space-Time Tunnel" created with projections and three-dimensional mirrored installations. It continuously flashes brilliant historical landmarks, inviting viewers into 500,000 years of Syrian history. It is reported that to fully showcase the uniqueness of Syrian culture, the colors and layout of the exhibition hall vary according to the distinctive features of each section.

Reviving Silk Road Connections and Narrating Traditional Friendships

Syria has long been a crucial node on the Silk Road. As early as over two millennia ago during the Western Han Dynasty, Syria connected with China through this major artery of East-West cultural exchange. The two regions have maintained continuous interaction, facilitating trade, cultural exchange, and mutual influence on their respective civilizations, a relationship that persists to this day.

The exhibition will run from December 30 until May 8 next year. Those who are unable to visit in person can still experience the exhibition through panoramic guided tours and livestreams.
