“Ancient Shu Jinsha” Joins Hands with “Pearl of the Orient” - Hong Kong Youth in Chengdu Exploring the Power of Museums at Jinsha Site Museum

On May 14th, as part of the 2022 National Museum Day serial activities at Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum, Hong Kong and Chengdu Together ,Exploring Jinsha - Hong Kong Youth Visiting Jinsha Site themed activity was successfully held. More than 30 young people from Hong Kong in Chengdu visited Jinsha, exploring the mysterious civilization of ancient Shu civilization, and participated in customized handicraft activities to experiencing firsthand the museum’s role in  promoting cultural exchange, mutual understanding, as well as regional synergistic development.

Many of the Hong Kong youths at the event visited Jinsha Site for the first time. They said, ‘When I walked into the Relics Hall and saw the real archaeological excavation site, I felt the difficulty of bringing the Jinsha site back to life and the understood the perseverance of archaeologists.’ In addition to the visit, the social education staff at Jinsha also led the members do a fun and interesting artefact topography activity.

Wonderful Interactions between Ancient Jinsha and the Pearl of the Orient

It is understood that this event is not the first interaction between the ‘Ancient Shu Jinsha’ and the ‘Pearl of the Orient’. As early as 2007, the precious relics of Jinsha and Sanxingdui Site had travelled to Hong Kong. March 27, 2021, Jinsha Site Museum was was honored as one of the first exchange bases for youth from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan in Sichuan, further deepening exchanges and cooperation with the Hong Kong.

Deepening Cooperation to Infuse Continuous Vitality into Hong Kong-Chengdu Exchanges

In order to jointly create more platforms and opportunities for Hong Kong youths working and studying in Sichuan to participate in volunteer work, and to help Hong Kong youths better understand Chengdu and integrate into their study and life in Chengdu, Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum has signed a cooperation framework agreement with the Volunteer Corps of the Hong Kong Federation of Students of Sichuan Universities.
