Since January 27, the 2025 Chengdu Jinsha Sun and Immortal Bird Festival (hereinafter referred to as the Sun Festival) has provided citizens with a dual cultural experience of tradition and modernity through various activities, including the Grand Exhibition of Ancient Greece, brilliant lantern sets, Spring Festival flower markets, cultural performances, ancient Shu sacrificial blessings as well as interactive performances, amusement areas for children, and Jinsha delicacies section. From New Year's Eve to the seventh day of the first lunar month, the Jinsha Site Museum received over 229,000 visitors.
Seven Exhibitions Unveil: The Ancient Shu Civilization Shines Alongside World Civilizations
Ancient civilizations and distant histories are re-interpreted through lantern sets, dances, and songs. The special exhibition "Ancient Greece: Myth, Heroes, Destiny - Treasures from the Puglia Region of Italy" and the permanent exhibition "Entering Jinsha" jointly resonate with the echoes of cultural exchange and mutual learning. Outside the exhibition hall, this dialogue is presented in the form of the "Light of the Sun" Light and Shadow Art Exhibition. The 200-meter-long "Heritage Panorama" features representative artifacts, plants, and flowers from ancient Chinese, Egyptian, Mayan, and ancient Greek civilizations as colorful lanterns. Exhibitions such as the "Golden Snake Presents Auspiciousness - The Joint Exhibition of Zodiac Culture for the Year of the Snake", the "Childhood Lights up Jinsha - The 'Together for a Shared Future' Chengdu Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance and Education Action Exhibition", the "Spring in the Ancient Shu Jinsha - Flower Art Exhibition", and the "Panda's Homeland • Enjoy Globally - The New Year Theme Exhibition of the Giant Panda Cultural and Creative Competition" also showcase innovative interpretations of traditional culture.
During the holiday, Jinsha also launched 16 sessions of intangible cultural heritage live exhibitions and Spring Festival experience activities, covering traditional folk customs such as rubbing the Chinese character "Fu", cutting paper for window decoration, and writing spring couplets, as well as intangible cultural heritage experience activities like bamboo weaving, indigo dyeing, and lacquer fan making.

During the Spring Festival holiday, a total of 186 performances and activities were held in Jinsha, including spot performances, ancient Shu sacrificial ceremonies, god-welcoming performances, cultural shows, and puppet interactions.
From the first to the eighth day of the Lunar New Year and during the Lantern Festival, ancient Shu sacrificial blessing ceremonies were held beneath the ancient Shu sacrifice - themed lantern sets. At different spots such as the Sun and Immortal Bird sculpture, the Ebony forest, and the sacrifice-themed lantern sets, selected segments from the musical "Jinsha," including "One Day," "The Dream of Jinsha," "The Forgotten Love Song," "Who Is He," and "Wish," were performed again. The organizer specially invited Rongzhong Erjia, who had played the role of "Sha" in the musical "Jinsha," to perform some of these segments for the audience.
In addition, the "Gods Welcoming Guests" activity was one of the most popular performances. The goddess Athena, together with ancient Shu priests, the goddess of the Sun and Immortal Bird, and the Egyptian Pharaoh jointly presented a situational performance. The 2025 Jinsha Sun Festival has provided more considerate and convenient services for visitors through a number of measures, such as volunteer services, extended opening hours, and live streaming. The museum has specially set up three free luggage storage points for the convenience of visitors, located at the South Gate Visitor Center, the entrance of the Relics Hall at the East Gate, and the main counter service point in the Exhibition Hall. The museum has also prepared sufficient commonly used items for visitors, such as reading glasses, hearing aids, wheelchairs, crutches, and umbrellas. The frequency of inspection and cleaning for barrier-free restrooms, nursing rooms, barrier-free passages, barrier-free elevators, and hot water services in the exhibition halls has also been increased.
To ensure the safety of cultural relics and the personal safety of visitors, the Jinsha Site Museum deployed 2,000 person-shifts of security personnel during the Festival to provide round-the-clock security. In addition, during the Spring Festival, 125 person-times of volunteers provided over 745 hours of volunteer services in aspects such as volunteer explanations, consulting services, civilized persuasion, social education activities, and questionnaires.
