Release Time: 2025-05-31
The Dragon Boat Festival is a significant traditional festival for the Chinese nation. During the Dragon Boat Festival this year, the 9th China Chengdu International Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival was being held in Chengdu. On Dragon Boat Festival, Jinsha Site Museum had prepared a rich intangible cultural heritage feast for visitors, featuring diversified performances of opera and storytelling, hands-on experiences, etc., leading visitors to immerse in the charm of the fusion between intangible cultural heritage and ancient Shu civilization.
In the morning of May 31, “Melodies of Happiness in Qingyang, Rhymes of Jinsha Opera” was on show in Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum. Many artists of Sichuan Opera and Quyi performed on stage together, presenting a cultural feast with artistic, viewing and interactive features for visitors.
In addition to traditional opera and storytelling performances, Jinsha Site Museum organized a series of “Seeking Heritage and Art” experience activities and free public-interest guided tour during the festival. On Dragon Boat Festival, educational staff guided visitors in making bamboo-woven mugwort boats, incorporating elements like Dragon Boat sachets and Jinsha cultural pendants. Through the weaving of bamboo strips, visitors not only appreciated the craftsmanship of intangible cultural heritage but also gained a deeper understanding of the cultural significance behind the Dragon Boat Festival, such as warding off evil and avoiding plagues, and praying for blessings and good fortune.
