A touch of cyan ushers in summer! The 'Cyan·Aesthetic' special exhibition debuts today at the Jinsha Site Museum.
Release Time: 2025-07-16
This morning (July 16), the special exhibition "Cyan·Aesthetic— The Aesthetic of Traditional Chinese Colors in Cultural Relics" officially launched. At the opening event, the guide transformed into Wang Ximeng to lead the audience, while NPCs dressed in Song Dynasty Hanfu interacted with visitors from time to time.
As one of the 100 themed exhibition promotion projects for 2025 by the National Cultural Heritage Administration, this exhibition brings together over 200 cyan shade artifacts from more than 20 cultural institutions across the country. Through the focused display of cultural relics and intangible heritage works, it not only invites the audience on a journey through time to explore the beauty of cyan aesthetics but also offers a cultural feast of Eastern aesthetics in anticipation of the upcoming World Games.

During the 2023 World University Games, the Jinsha Site Museum served as a bridge for international exchange with its exhibition "Golden Relics — The Bronze Civilization of Southwest China." Two years later, Chengdu is set to host this significant international sporting event, the World Games. The Jinsha Site Museum, as a cultural ambassador, showcases the beauty of Chinese traditional culture to both domestic and international audiences through its focus on the color cyan.
The exhibition begins with the introductory hall titled "Cyan, the Color of the East," systematically explaining the rich connotations of cyan through a combination of literature and artifacts, thereby constructing a cognitive framework for the audience to understand cyan culture. The main body of the exhibition is divided into three connected units:
1. The first unit, "The Warm Sun Over Lantian making it appear as if smoke rises from Jade," focuses on nature's gifts, showcasing the beauty of natural cyan minerals.
2. The second unit, "After the Rain, the Sky Clears and the Clouds Part," shifts to human craftsmanship, presenting cyan artifacts refined by kiln fire.
3. The third unit, "Countless Artists in the World," elevates the theme to aesthetic inheritance, gathering textiles and cyan-green landscape paintings.
These three dimensions progressively reveal the evolution of cyan from its natural origins to human creativity. The exhibition concludes in the final hall, "Cyan Exceeds Blue," vividly illustrating the contemporary inheritance and innovation of traditional color culture through the display of cyan intangible cultural heritage items from Sichuan.
This inheritance comes alive in the hands and creativity of the younger generation—at the end of the exhibition, a special display wall features student works, conveying their youthful visions of the beauty of cyan and ancient culture.
Using cyan as the medium for an immersive encounter with Eastern aesthetics.
In Chinese traditional culture, cyan has always held a unique and important position. The entire exhibition hall centers on the color cyan as part of traditional Chinese colors, creating a harmonious and elegant Eastern atmosphere through clever color combinations.
The exhibition skillfully integrates digital technology and interactive experiences to provide a rich and diverse sensory experience. Additionally, it features a special thematic experience called "Cyan Rhythm Healing”. The museum also adheres to the concept of "barrier-free appreciation," allowing individuals from special groups, such as those with visual or hearing impairments, to fully experience cyan culture.
Cyan Aesthetic continues, making the beauty of cyan accessible.
After visiting the exhibition, audiences can take home a piece of "cyan" memorabilia. Over 70 types of cyan-themed cultural and creative products are available for purchase at the cultural shop outside the exhibition hall, embodying the unique Eastern charm of cyan romance.
During the exhibition, the Jinsha Site Museum will also launch the online digital exhibition "Everything in Cyan." Additionally, to facilitate viewers from various locations, the official website's special page, WeChat audio guides, and 360° panoramic tours will be progressively launched on the opening day and throughout the exhibition period, creating an interactive experience for everyone.
