Release Time: 2026-09-20

On September 17 local time, the “Dialogue of Solar Civilizations -- Chengdu Panda Week Activities” was held at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. The event featured the opening ceremony of an exhibition themed on the ancient Shu civilization and a Chengdu cultural tourism promotion, attracting participation from international tourists from Spain, Colombia, Greece, Indonesia, and France, as well as local residents.

More than 100 representative from the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, Egypt’s Ministry of Information, the NMEC, the Grand Egyptian Museum and Cairo University attended the event and jointly witnessed the release of multiple cooperation outcomes.

The ancient Shu people worshiped the sun. The Sun and Immortal Birds Gold Ornament unearthed from the Jinsha Site embodies the ancient Shu people’s cognitive system of the universe. The ancient Egyptians likewise pursued light — the sun god Ra sailed across the sky in his bark each day.

As part of the “Dialogue of Solar Civilizations -- Chengdu Panda Week Activities,” a cultural and museum-themed exhibition “Dawn, Power, and Eternity” was held at the NMEC. The exhibition selected 16 cultural relics from the Jinsha Site Museum, including the Sun and Immortal Bird Gold Ornament, the Gold Mask, and the Bronze Standing Figure, alongside the Gold Scepter and the Bronze Human Head with Gold Mask unearthed from Sanxingdui, displayed through 1:1 replicas and 3D-printed pieces. The exhibition also featured a VR experience zone, inviting international visitors to immerse themselves in the profound heritage and unique charm of the ancient Shu culture.

The Sun and Immortal Bird Gold Ornament and the 143 cm-long replica of the Sanxingdui Gold Scepter were quietly displayed in their cases, while the Golden Panda Awards cultural space nearby equally drew crowds of visitors.

Professor Mohamed Shoman, an adviser to the Minister of State for Media for Public Communication and Training, said in his address at the event that today’s gathering represents a meeting between two great civilizations and a dialogue between two cultures. Different civilizations shine upon each other and appreciate one another. He invited friends from around the world to visit the exhibition and partake in the “Sun Appointment” from the ancient Shu civilization.
