The Spring of Friendship in Jinsha

On the day of 2014 Chinese Lantern Festival, around 100 foreign guests attended an event named The Spring of Friendship in Jinsha, which was co-held by the Sichuan Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Chengdu People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and Jinsha Site Museum.

Guests were invited to the venue with their family members, including consul generals of Germany, Singapore, Thailand, Australia at Chengdu, the representatives from the Netherlands Trade Promotion Commission, delegates from famous foreign enterprises in Chengdu, etc.

At 2:00 pm, guests visited the Jinsha Flower Market guided by a docent. They gave high praises for its checkered landscape decorated by colorful flower-shaped lanterns, adorned Ebony Woods, and brilliant fresh flowers.

Making yuan xiao (glutinous rice ball) and appreciating lanterns are two essentials during the traditional Chinese festival. After touring the museum, these guests made yuan xiao and lanterns with the help of staff members. The self-made palace festoons bore their best wishes for a new year. Later in the night, when all the lanterns were lit brightly, these guests experienced a marvelous show of light and shadows with much delight.
