An exhibition featuring the ancient civilization of Shu kingdom kicked off in Rabat, the capital of Morocco on Sept. 3rd, local time.  More than 100 guests attended the opening ceremony.

The cultural show named Mysterious ancient Shu Kingdom: Sanxingdui and Jinsha is the collaborative effort among China Cultural Center in Rabat, Sanxingdui Museum (Sichuan) and Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum. 

The event will last through the end of this month.

Visitors will see 12 replicas of archaeological relics that are famous due to their eccentric outlooks and exquisite craftworks from the two Chinese museums.  VR and AR technologies offer more interactive means for them to learn the rich stories behind the original artifacts, which are forbidden to be shipped abroad.

After the opening ceremony, Xiao Xianjin, former curator of  Sanxingdui Museum, and Yao Fei, deputy director of Jinsha Site Museum, gave lectures on the ancient civilization.

Yao informed the audience that major archaeological discoveries since the 21st century feature large numbers of bronze, gold, jade, pottery, and ivory artifacts in various shapes and sizes. She also pointed out that the sites of Sanxingdui and Jinsha jointly proved the fact that ancient Chengdu plain is a cradle of Chinese civilization in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.

Chen Dongyun, cultural counselor of the Chinese embassy in Morocco and director of China Cultural Center in Rabat, expressed the hope that the instructive display will showcase another aspect of Chinese cultures and deepen the Moroccan people's understanding about the country.
