The 2017 Chengdu Jinsha Sun Festival is well under preparation. On January 18, the large lighting sets themed Encounter were being hoisted. Located at the east Gate of Jinsha Site Museum, the sets echo the theme of the Festival, i.e. Encounter between Ancient Egypt and Ancient Sichuan & Carnival of Spring and Cultures. The grand pyramid gate and the Sphinx, decorated with ancient Egyptian and Sichuan elements, are visually magnificent thanks to the encounter of the two civilizations. Though physically distant from each other, the two civilizations share stunning similarities after thousands of years: the mighty Nile is the cradle of the ancient Egyptian civilization and the winding Minjiang River fosters the mysterious ancient Sichuan civilization. Both civilizations worship sun and gold, revere the deities, and create equally splendid civilizations. The encounter at Jinsha Site Museum today nurtures more diversity to the two civilizations.
Visitors will be greeted by the stunning Egyptian lighting sets. Over 40 large lighting sets, 4 extra-large sets (15m tall), and more than 3,000 decorated trees are put into use to light up the 8,000 sqm site. The most representative Egyptian cultural landmarks and historical relics, including the pyramids for the Pharaohs, the Sphinxes, the famous golden Tutankhamun masks, the Luxor Temple that tells the story about the ancient Egypt, and the Sun Temple guarded by the Egyptian gods, will be displayed in the form of traditional Chinese lighting sets.
